Road Trip with Grandma ...

Off to Grandma's & Grandpa's House
Arrived at McDonald's ...
met Ian, Kendall and Daigen for lunch ...
after a quick visit ...
it was time for grandma and Daigen to head out on a road trip to the Kootenays

Left Red Deer and travelled to Airdrie ...
we spent a few hours shopping for goodies and groceries for the Easter holiday ...
Daigen had a quick nap to Okotoks ... then we stopped at the condo ... for a break ...
the first thing that had to be looked at  ...
was the toys in the box ...
only way to check out each item was to line them up on the floor ...

on the road again as we travel to the mountains to our next stop ...
excellent weather and no traffic ...
a joyful trip with singing, chatting and DVDs ...

On Guard ...

Keeping an Eye on Things

Travelling back to Alberta ...  in a blizzard ...
this Osprey was perched on the fence post down by the neighbours field ...

Heading into Fernie ... clear blue skies ...
saw this Hawk along the side of the road ...

This shot was along Hwy 7 heading towards Okotoks ...
there were two hawks sitting on top of the hydro poles ...
no place to pull over right there  ...
when I was able to stop to take a picture ...
the birds had flown away ...
oh well ... maybe next time ...

then spring would arrive ...
how wrong I was ...
Mother Nature had other plans ...

Strolling Down Mainstreet ...

Sightseeing in Leavenworth, WA

After our Saturday morning coffee at Veronas Cafe ...
we had a couple hours of free time ...
decided to stroll along main street and check our some of the unique gift shops ...
well ... what a surprise to find a cafe named after "Me" ...

Lunch time was nearing ...
with all the browsing and shopping ...
we needed a place to sit down and relax with a bite to eat ...
since it was nice enough to sit outside ...
we ventured into this outdoor Bavarian Grill & Beer Garden ...
on the menu
"Bratwurst & Sauerkraut "
had to have it ... minus the beer for me ...!!!

We spent most of our time in this little gift shop ...
then it was off to choir practice ...
What a wonderful morning it was ...

Hawaiin Luau ...

Mom & Kurt

Mom and Kurt enjoying the festivities at the Luau ...
selection of food was unbelievable ...
menu was a 7 course dinner ...
dishes were based on the the different nationalities that settled on the island ...
apparently they had no problems in sampling all there was ...
I noticed in the photo the little green umbrella situated by my mother ...
I wonder how many umbrellas were collected ...
between the two of them throughout the evening ... ??

sitting back enjoying the entertainment provided ...
asked mom if she was up dancing the Hula ...
(I remember having to go up on stage with all the women dancing ...
the men sitting below watching ... was a hoot !) ...
no Hula dancing for mom ...
still collecting umbrellas I guess ... !

Oh dear ... it looks like they had a few sips of the accompany drinks with dinner ...
(only one umbrella was collected)
they both said that the entertainment, food and drinks were great ...
and that they had a wonderful time ...

Aloha ... !!

Journey Home ...

Walking Bridge

It was a beautiful afternoon to meet Mike ...
after work ...at his bus stop on the other side of town ...
Walking along the path ...
then over the Sheep River bridge ...
halfway across ... I stopped to look down at the water ...
Mike totally unaware ... kept walking ... still chatting away ...
chuckling to myself ... decided to get this photo ...
He was surprised when I finally caught up to him ...
funny ... he was wondering why I hadn't answered him back ...
Both of us laughing ...
continued on our journey home ...

On the Road ...

Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep

Travelling back to Alberta on Hwy #3 just past Elko ...
Mike spotted a Rocky Mountain Sheep on the road and asked if I wanted a picture ...
of course I did ...
we had already passed numerous vehicles on our journey ...
only to have them all drive by us with only a few of them pulling over to take pictures as well ...
it was almost 20 minutes before we were on the road again ....
Delighted to have captured these photos ...

Thank you Mike for your support of all my artistic ventures !
